Learning Partners
Discover how CILIP can help you recruit students to your education and training programmes and support the development of the skills and knowledge they need to be successful.
We know it can be challenging to ensure that your programmes attract the best students in the age of digital information. That’s why we’ve developed an accreditation process based on our gold standard Professional Knowledge and Skillsbase tool (PKSB) to help you stay ahead of the game.
CILIP stands for quality. CILIP has an established record of providing robust and fair accreditation to formal information and library qualifications and short courses.
By choosing a CILP accredited programme, learners can feel confident that the content is relevant to the profession and has been tested against the professional standard by an independent assessor.
Why become a CILIP Learning Partner?
CILIP Accreditation is a badge of quality for learners and employers. This is a powerful promotional message. Your course will be listed on our website as an accredited course - the main source of information for prospective students.
Your organisation will become a CILIP Learning Partner and join an international professional community connected to best practice.

There are two strands of accreditation:
Academic Accreditation
This includes both academic and vocational courses offered by universities and colleges. International courses must have the same equivalence as British ones as defined by the UK qualifications agency ENIC.
Academic accreditation assures students that undergraduate and post graduate degree courses provide an excellent preparation for professional practice and will be a strong foundation for anybody entering the library, data, information, and
knowledge sectors. They can choose academic courses with confidence, knowing that there is coverage of essential skills and knowledge, which have been rigorously assessed.
CILIP’s memoranda of understanding with sister organisations the American Library Association (ALA), the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA) and the Library Association of Ireland (LAI) give students portability of degrees
for international careers.
